A Fun, Tasty and Memorable Summer Social Gathering by Lake Michigan
Chinese Finance Association of America (CFAA) held its first summer BBQ social gathering at Dawes Park in Evanston, Illinois on July 12th, 2009. More than 100 people, including CFAA board members, advisors, members, regular participants and their family and friends from all over the Greater Chicagoland area, attended the event, marking the largest social event in CFAA’s history.
The BBQ social gathering complemented other CFAA educational and professional programs by bringing closer the Chinese finance and professional communities in a casual and friendly atmosphere. It attracted many new interests in the organization and its culture, while also helping CFAA to broaden and strengthen its outreach to the finance community.
Under a sunny sky on a perfect summer day, attendees soaked in the cool breeze from Lake Michigan and the greens in Dawes Park for more than four hours. They enjoyed tasty foods, caught up with old friends, made new friends, exchanged ideas and information on the professional front, and learned more about CFAA. Industry experts were among the attendees, such as CFAA advisor Mr. Nicholas Ronalds – Executive Director of FIA and Dr. Hu Tong – Head of Quantitative Trading at Sun Trading, and they shared their experiences and insights with students and young professionals. Sing Tao Daily journalist, Mr. Samuel Zheng, interviewed participants and reported the event. We would like to thank our volunteers’ invaluable contributions and support of the event, including York Guo, Hong Cheng, and Sabrina Su, just to name a few.
The event generated very positive feedback from many participants, thus reinforcing our commitment to continually serving our mission at a high professional standard at CFAA.
